James Carli, Coordinator of Development Communications and Research
James Carli is Development Communications and Research Coordinator at the Drug Policy Alliance, where he conducts research to identify donors and assists with grant writing to support the organization’s programs and campaigns across the country and internationally.
Before joining the organization in 2013, he was a political advisor to the Maltese Mission to the United Nations and a representative for U.S.-based North Korea travel company Uri Tours, Inc. Prior to moving to New York, James was a city planner, newspaper writer, and freelance cartographer in North Carolina.
James has a M.A. in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University and a B.S. in City Planning and Geographic Information Systems from Appalachian State University. He is a member of APRA, the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement, and enjoys backpacking, whitewater kayaking, skiing, and architecture and urban design.
