Job Announcement: Part-time Administrative Associate, New Jersey

The New Jersey office of the Drug Policy Alliance is one of eight offices in four states and the District of Columbia. The Drug Policy Alliance New Jersey's (DPA NJ) main areas of focus are: increasing access to sterile syringes to prevent the spread of HIV, hepatitis C and other blood-borne diseases; advocating for alternatives to incarceration for non-violent drug law violators; achieving legal access to medical marijuana; enhancing the ability of the state's drug treatment system to provide help to New Jerseyans; expanding harm reduction services; and reducing the collateral consequences of drug convictions.  DPA NJ achieves results through its main functions of research, education, and advocacy. 

DPA NJ is seeking motivated and reliable candidates for the position of Part-Time Office Manager.  Candidates should be committed to promoting drug policy reform and the principles of harm reduction.

Position: Administrative Associate, 16-20 hrs per week
Location: Trenton, NJ
Reports to: Director, Drug Policy Alliance New Jersey

Primary Responsibilities

The Administrative Associate provides administrative support to the Director and Policy Associate.  More specifically, the Administrative Associate is responsible for:

  • Paying bills
  • Preparing expense reports
  • Filing
  • Keeping track of office supplies and ordering/purchasing when low
  • Processing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Assisting generally with office projects as needed 
  • Assisting in some special events as needed
  • Proofreading
  • Answering phone calls and taking messages

The ideal candidate will be a collegial, energetic, professional and self-motivated advocate with office experience.
