Reena Szczepanski, Director, Drug Policy Alliance New Mexico

Reena 60x85 (Formal)Reena Szczepanski is director of the Drug Policy Alliance New Mexico, where she works to end the war on drugs at the local, state and national levels.  Under her guidance the office's legislative successes have included legal access to medical marijuana and passage of the 911 Good Samaritan Act.  She oversees community education, research, legislative initiatives, and extensive community collaboration.

Previously, Szczepanski was the hepatitis program manager for the New Mexico Department of Health.  In this role, she successfully expanded the program to one of the largest networks in the United States providing free hepatitis A and B vaccines for high-risk adults.  Szczepanski is president-elect of the New Mexico Public Health Association, Emerge New Mexico Class of 2008, and an Honorary Board member of the New Mexico Women’s Justice Project.

Her parents emigrated from India to Atlanta, Georgia, where Szczepanski was born and raised. She is a graduate of Brown University.
