International Efforts

DPA Network supports drug policy reform efforts worldwide, most notably in Europe, Australia and the Americas. We co-founded the Open Society Institute's International Harm Reduction Development program, which supports public health initiatives in eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Although DPA Network focuses primarily on reforming drug policies in the United States, we have long been deeply involved in foreign and international reform efforts as well.

We are in close contact with associates in Europe, where the DPA Network is working with OSI staff to create a stronger base for drug policy reform. The executive director currently serves, along with another DPA Network board member, on the advisory committee of OSI's International Harm Reduction Development Program.

DPA Network's communications team devotes substantial energies to informing U.S. media about drug policy reform developments abroad and also apprises the press in Europe, Latin America, Australia and elsewhere of key drug policy developments in the U.S.
