Major Victory!
Congress has finally reformed one of the drug war's most racist policies. The House passed historic legislation today that will significantly reduce the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine offenses. The bill will now go to President Obama for his signature.
Reforming the System
The House has unanimously passed a bill that would create a bipartisan commission to reexamine our broken criminal justice system. The commission would provide an extraordinary opportunity to awaken Congress to the failures of the drug war and push for much-needed reforms.
