1. The first article in the New York Times described the hope of Sernyl as a new anesthetic development (March 27, 1958). 
2. It later evolved that he faked this attack be he was an undercover narc who carried out the charade to escape the consequences of having blown his cover.
3. Scott-Heron has previously composed anti-heroin and anti-alcohol songs. 
4. The conviction was later overturned on appeal because of irregularity by officers in informing Braeske of his rights. He awaits retrial. 
5. Phillips made these statements in a phone conversation with J.P.M. on Thursday, May 8, 1980.
