Ohio Residents Back Treatment Proposal. The Columbus Dispatch. November 2002.
A survey of 793 randomly selected Ohio adults conducted by the The Columbus Dispatch found that three-fourths of respondents back a possible constitutional amendment affecting first-time and some second-time offenders charged with possessing drugs. The proposal, which may appear on the November 2002 ballot, would require treatment rather than jail sentences for nonviolent offenders; penalties for those selling or trafficking drugs would not change.
