Should Rush Get a Taste of His Own Medicine?
January 8, 2004

What to do with Rush Limbaugh, America’s most famous drug addict?  We are of two minds.

On the one hand, we at the Alliance believe that all people-- including Mr. Limbaugh-- should not be punished for what they put into their own bodies, but only for crimes committed against others. It is the difficult cases that test our commitment to the principle.

On the other hand, Rush has advocated for treating drug offenders as criminals. If he can find no compassion for people who, like him, are battling addiction, why not give him a taste of his own medicine?
