Tell the Judiciary to Stop Stalling and Save Lives
Monday, March 24, 2008

Naomi Long 60x85 (Formal)Dear Supporter,

Maryland could become the second state in the country to pass a Good Samaritan bill. The bill would allow people witnessing an alcohol or drug overdose to call for help without fear of being punished for possession of small amounts of drugs. Your state legislators could help make Maryland a model in preventing overdose deaths, saving lives, and sending the right message about the value of life.

There's just one problem: they may not even get the chance to cast their vote.

Take action now to ensure that HB 1390 is on the voting docket for TODAY. We have the votes to make it out of committee. We have the tools to prevent overdose deaths. Now, all is we need is for you to make the call. Tell the Judiciary committee to call for a vote on HB 1390 and give it a FAVORABLE report.  Please call as many of the delegates below as possible. When the office receptionist answers the phone, politely say something like:

"My name is [YOUR NAME] and I live and vote in Maryland. I’m calling to urge the delegate to help get House Bill 1390, the Limited-Immunity for Alcohol and Drug Overdose Incidents bill, on the voting docket today. I would like to see House Bill 1390 pass and see Maryland become a leader in preventing alcohol and drug overdose deaths. Can I leave my address so that the delegate can follow up with me by mail?"

Please call:
