Let’s Talk about Meth
Tuesday, October 7, 2008

Teachers, counselors, prevention specialists and parents in California can benefit from a new tool to facilitate open and honest discussion with young people about drugs and drug use. DPA is proud to announce the availability of Just4Teens: Let’s Talk about Meth and Other Drugs, an innovative drug education DVD.  Shaped by more than 70 teen focus groups participants as well as the young people on screen, Just4Teens is truly a video by and for youth.

The DVD includes a 15-minute video and a 14-page Facilitator’s Guide. The Facilitator’s Guide includes three separate modules for use with the video and for expanded follow-up studies of drugs, drug education and prevention relevant to youth today:

  • Discussion questions are for use directly after viewing the video with students or youth groups.
  • Related activities are suggestions for expanded class study and discussion about drugs, drug use, and what resources are available in your community. These activities cover many topic areas and can be the basis for an entire unit of study on drugs, including alcohol.
  • Resources include a broad range of websites where students, teachers, prevention specialists, and parents can go for more information on drugs, drug education, and prevention.

The DVD also includes a bonus chapter featuring adult experts, such as DPA’s Marsha Rosenbaum, who pioneered the fight for reality-based approaches drug prevention and education in California.

This educational DVD was produced through the support of a U.S. Department of Justice grant awarded to the New Mexico office of the Drug Policy Alliance.  Educators outside of New Mexico can also utilize this new tool.  Visit our e-store to order a copy.
