Maggie Taylor, Policy Associate, National Affairs
Maggie Taylor is policy associate for DPA's office of national affairs in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the Drug Policy Alliance, Taylor was special assistant to the Baltimore city health commissioner, where she became familiar with several successful public health approaches to reducing the harms of drug misuse. She has also worked with the Community Law Center, a Baltimore-based organization that provides legal services and technical assistance to improve the quality of life and economic viability of communities.
Taylor holds a B.A. in government and public policy from the University of Baltimore. She is driven to reform America’s drug laws by her personal experiences with addiction, which have solidified her belief that substance use and misuse are not behaviors that can, or should, be criminalized. She is especially interested in harm reduction strategies and removing criminal penalties for drug use.
